TNP - Vitamin and Mineral Supplements

Vitamin supplements, actually dietary supplements in general, are an important part of getting the nutrition our bodies need. Why? Given our diets and lack of access to healthy foods, and given the dwindling nutritional quality of food generally available today, our bodies need vitamin, mineral and other dietary supplements to fill in this nutritional gap.

Background
There are at least 13 vitamins and 15 minerals that are considered essential for good health. Vitamins are organic compounds, which means they contain carbon, and are found naturally only in living things. Minerals are simpler, inorganic compounds and are found in all foods. Four of these vitamins ? A, D, E, and K are fat soluble ? meaning they can be stored in the body. Vitamins C and the eight forms of vitamin B are water soluble, meaning that excess amounts are eliminated through urination. Minerals are also classified in two categories - major minerals (macronutrients), such as calcium, magnesium and potassium, that are found in relatively high concentrations in foods, and trace minerals (micronutrients), such as copper, iron, zinc, and chromium, that are usually only found in minute amounts. All of these vitamins and minerals play an important role in your body?s ability to build cells, releasing energy from our food, and in maintaining the good health of our organs, bones and immune system. Taking vitamin and mineral supplements can help us target deficiencies in our diet, to fill in the gaps.

Is your supplement right for you?
You can find help in determining if your mineral and vitamin supplements are meeting your daily vitamin requirement and are nutritionally available to your body. Based on this information, if you are happy with your mineral and vitamin supplements, that is great. However, if you are not, I have found a good mineral and vitamin supplement that is absorbed well by the body and also provides Phytonutrients. Even if you are happy with your mineral and vitamin supplements, you should make sure you are getting the phytonutrients that your body needs to maintain good health.

Are you concerned about getting sufficient Phytonutrients, in addition to vitamins and minerals? A very natural method of increasing our intake of Phytonutrients is to start juicing regularly. Despite juicing a couple of times a day and eating a balanced meal containing vegetables, I still find it difficult to consume the recommended dosage of fruits and vegetables. This becomes even more difficult when I travel, and do not have access to fresh juice on a regular basis. If you feel you are getting the amount of phytonutrients, that is great. However, if you have the same concern as I have, I have found an amazing source of Phytonutrients from 24 fruits and vegetables, packaged in a convenient ?health-on-the-go? approach.

TNP - Daily Vitamin and Mineral Requirement

What is your daily vitamin requirement? Many of us are familiar with the US RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of certain nutrients. While the RDA helped to educate people about the various vitamins and minerals they needed, according to Dr. Michael Janson, a leading authority on preventive and alternative medicine ?The RDA is actually a useless guideline for today, because it was designed to prevent deficiency diseases such as scurvy and beriberi ... [not for] achieving optimal health and treating disease...?. Similar things can be said for the Daily Value (DV) that are referred to on many supplement labels.

I have complied the following table from various sources. It contains information on a daily mineral and vitamin requirement, based on a 2,000 calorie per day diet, and natural food sources for each nutrient. You can use this to determine what mineral and vitamin supplements you may need, based on your diet. The daily mineral and vitamin requirement range has been derived from various sources. Look at the nutritional content for any supplements you are taking to determine if your supplement is right for you.

Taking a supplement based only on a label that says that it fulfills your daily mineral and vitamin requirement may not mean your body is getting what it needs. The supplement needs to be properly absorbed by the body. Although bio-availability is difficult to measure outside of a laboratory, a simple test can weed out obvious problems.

Do your vitamin supplements pass the crumbling and dissolving test? If not, your body may not be getting the benefit of what you are consuming. Drop your vitamin-mineral supplement in a glass of plain water. It should start crumbling in about 30 ? 45 minutes and completely dissolve in 4-5 hours. If your supplement does not crumble and dissolve in the specified time, it is a pretty good indication that it will not get absorbed by your body. Consuming vitamins and minerals in a liquid or powder form will help your body better breakdown and absorb their nutritional content, and give you your daily mineral and vitamin requirement. These forms start entering your system in your mouth, as they come in contact with your saliva. The next best option is gelatin-free capsules that easily dissolve in stomach acid. Supplements in hard tablet form - especially time released varieties - are most likely to pass through your system relatively intact.

If you feel you are getting your daily mineral and vitamin requirement and are happy with your supplement, that is great. However, if you are not, I have found a great supplement that is absorbed well in the body, provides the daily recommended mineral and vitamin requirement and also provides some phytonutrients. Here is my recommendation.

TNP - Parasite Cleanse

A parasite cleanse is required if your body is overburdened with other toxins. For the most part, if your body is healthy, then your immune system can deal with the parasites. If your circulation is poor, or your organs and tissues are oxygen deprived, or your pH is out of balance, tissues begin to deteriorate. This sets up an environment suitable for parasites to invade your body. They will naturally migrate to those areas of the body where your body is not functioning optimally. So they can be present in your blood, your joints, your organs, you name it! While parasites may not necessarily be the cause of a disease, they are extremely opportunistic and can make a disease worse.

There are many reasons to consider a parasite cleanse. It is estimated that parasites infect up to 80% of the world population, and that these infestations are not limited to developing nations with poor sanitation. Common lab tests screen for only forty of the hundreds of parasites that can live within the human body. In addition, most tests are performed on stool samples, but in reality only a few parasites inhabit the intestinal tract. Thus many people can test negative when in fact they do have parasites.

What is a parasite?
A parasite is an organism that derives its food, nutrition and shelter by living in or on another organism.

How would I possibly get bad parasites?
Malaria, giardia, and roundworm can be spread from country to country due to increased immigration and travel. Popularity of raw or undercooked foods, in particular meats and fish, can spread parasites. Until recently, the US government had banned the import of Italian prosciutto because the traditional method used to cure the pork did not involve heat of any kind.

You know how certain beaches are closed to swimmers after heavy rains? This is because the bacterial and parasite levels are extremely high and create the risk of infection. If you live in high smog areas, you will be more susceptible to parasite invasion.

Probably the most common method of transmission is through pets. Even if you wash your hands after petting your dog or cat or handling your scaly or feathered friends, you can still get parasites by picking up their bedding or their food dish or when they come over and lick you. This is the reason why women are advised to stop emptying the cat litter box while they are pregnant.

So what is a toxin-conscious person to do? A routine parasite cleanse!

Possible Signs of Parasitic Infestation
Since parasites will naturally inhabit the weaker areas of your body, symptoms can manifest in many different ways. Stomach pain, indigestion, ulcers, constipation or colitis may indicate parasites in the digestive tract Uncontrollable movements, such as Parkinson?s disease, may indicate parasites in the nervous system Joint or muscle pain, such as arthritis, can be a sign that the presence of a parasite is irritating the joint or tissue and thereby causing inflammation Increased susceptibility to infections in lungs, sinuses, vagina, bladder or any mucous membrane may indicate the presence of a parasite Food and environmental allergies are often linked to parasites because as digested food is released into the intestines, it can seep through perforations caused by the parasites into the lymphatic system Dermatitis, itching, psoriasis, eczema, hives, swelling and rashes can indicate parasites in the skin Anemia, fatigue or drowsiness after meals may indicate that parasites are competing with the body for nutrients
Cleansing Sequence
I have seen conflicting information on when to undertake this cleanse ? in conjunction with the colon cleanse or after the liver cleanse. However, the consensus is that if your body has a low level of toxicity (no chronic symptoms and regular bowel movements), then sequence is less important. If you are experiencing any chronic symptoms or have not been following a natural and organic food diet, then I would recommend that you do the colon cleanse and the parasite cleanse first, followed by the kidney cleanse and then the liver cleanse.

Parasite Cleanse Guide
You may have read about certain foods and herbs that kill certain parasites. Studies have shown that 4 glasses pomegranate juice daily will kill tapeworms. One-quarter cup of finely ground pumpkin seeds can eliminate many other varieties of worms. But, if you suspect that you have a parasite, but cannot rely on the common lab tests to tell you what you have, then what can you do?

As with other types of cleanses, there are two way to arrive at a solution. The do-it-yourself method requires that you find and purchase all of the ingredients and then administer them in the right dosages. This task can be time consuming and not necessarily inexpensive, despite the label "do-it-yourself".

Using the kit method, you can purchase a kit, consisting of a mixture of various anti-parasite supplements and herbal laxatives. While this may seem like it should cost more, take it from someone that has done a lot of cleanses, by the time you purchase all of the ingredients in their minimum quanities, you really do not save that much money using the do-it-yourself method. If you wish to, you can skip ahead to the kit method.

Do-It-Yourself Parasite Cleanse
All sources that I have read agree that the best parasite cleanse consists of a combination of herbs to eliminate adult parasites and their eggs. A common formula uses three particular herbs: black walnut hulls, wormwood and cloves. The walnut hulls and wormwood kill parasites in the adult and developmental stages, while the cloves kill the eggs. Thus by using the three herbs in combination, you kill the parasites at all stages of its life cycle.

PRECAUTIONS:
1. Be careful with your source of black walnut hulls. The hulls must be harvested green, before they decay and turn black, in order to retain their medicinal properties. Look for black walnut hulls in a tincture solution in most health food stores.

2. There are a lot of different plants that are commonly called wormwood. The one with the maximum parasite-fighting capability is the one with the scientific name ?Artemesia?. It is extremely bitter and best taken in capsule form.

3. There are no particular precautions with cloves. However, if you are putting them in capsules yourself, freshly grind whole cloves yourself. Ground cloves found in the spice aisle of most grocery stores are often stale, which means they have lost their medicinal value.

Typical Side Effects
There are no typical side effects from these herbs at recommended dosages, though you may experience a healing crisis as your body eliminates the parasites and begins to heal itself. Drink plenty of water while on any parasite cleanse. Nevertheless, do not exceed recommended dosages in an effort to speed up the parasite cleanse! Always remember that too much of a good thing isn?t necessarily better for you. Lastly, you do not need to stop other medications or herbal therapies.

Complete Parasite Cleanse
You will need: Organic apple juice Tincture of black walnut hull Bottle of Wormwood capsules (200-300mg each) Bottle of Clove capsules (500 mg each) Bottle of L-ornithine capsules (500 mg each)
Begin the parasite cleanse around the full moon, which is when parasites are most active. Take the herbal combination 30 minutes before meals or on an empty stomach. Plan on taking 1-4 L-ornithine capsules at night if you have trouble sleeping during the cleanse.

Week 1: Add 30 drops of the black walnut hull to one cup of organic apple juice. Drink with one capsule each wormwood and cloves. Take this dose of herbs 3 times per day.

Week 2: Stay at 30 drops of the black walnut hull to one cup of organic apple juice. Increase the wormwood and cloves to 2 capsules each. Take this dose of herbs 3 times per day.

Week 3: Stay at 30 drops of the black walnut hull to one cup of organic apple juice. Increase the wormwood and cloves to 3 capsules each. Take this dose of herbs 3 times per day.

Most parasites will die within a week, but continue for at least three weeks and for up to three months. If you continue longer than three weeks, simply maintain the Week 3 dosage for the remainder of the cleanse.

Concerns About Do-It-Yourself Cleanses
While I wholeheartedly believe in the parasite cleanse described on this page, and I have used it and recommended it with great success, I have growing concerns about the efficacy and variability of do-it-yourself cleanses based on individual ingredients. The efficacy can vary greatly depending on the manufacturers' quality standards, and the age / shelf life of the supplement.

Kit Method of Parasite Cleanse
Instead of assembling all of the ingredients yourself, you may choose from one of numerous supplement-based parasite cleansing kits available at your health food store or online. A complete supplement-based parasite cleansing kit should have some form of herbal laxative and herbs to expel adult parasites and kill the eggs. You should also make sure that the whatever supplement based product you purchase is fresh (not past its shelf life) and comes from a reputable supplier. There are a large number of suppliers of herbal supplements that produce their supplements without the sufficient quality controls and standards to guarantee purity, quality and efficacy.

The easiest kits to use are ones that come with all of the ingredients pre-mixed, to save you the time and hassle of looking up dosages. I have found that while the kit method may appear to be more expensive initially, after using the do-it-yourself method on numerous occassions, it is actually not more expensive to use the kit method.

After having investigated a number of kits available on the market in terms of ingredients, ease of use and supplier credibility and quality, here is my recommendation for a parasite cleanse kit.

Drink Plenty of Water
Remember to drink plenty of water each day to flush the excreted toxins out of your system! Information on the benefit of drinking water will provide you with guidelines on the minimum amount of water you should be drinking. The more water you drink, the more toxins your body will be able to expel as part of this cleanse, and the better you will feel through the cleansing process.

Re-infestation will occur so consider doing the parasite cleanse once or twice a year. Children are especially susceptible to parasites since they are always sticking things in their mouths. While teenagers can take adult dosages, please consult a natural doctor for the proper doses for children.

Cleansing your body of parasites is a fundamental step on
The Natural Path to good health.

TNP - Healing Crisis

A healing crisis is when you experience symptoms from diseases and toxins that are released during your detoxification process. Perhaps a simple example may help.

What if every year, you painted your walls a different color? As time went on, you layered color upon color. Finally after 30 years in the house, you found that the newest paint was not sticking properly because layers of paint underneath were cracking and coming off. So you decided to strip all of the paint off the walls and give it a fresh coat of paint. Well, as you started stripping off paint, you saw earlier layers. There was the year when you decided that a lot of color would go well with your white furniture. Then there was the year that neutral off-white colors were the right answer. Finally, you reach the part of the wall that had the ugly wallpaper that the previous owners had put up before you moved in. Once you get that wallpaper off and a few more layers of paint, you have finally cleaned the wall sufficiently to give the new paint a solid surface on the wall to stick to. In the process of stripping all the paint and wallpaper, you get glimpses of what your walls were like and what they went through.

Well, believe it or not, your body works in a similar way. As our bodies store fat, the chemistry of the fat reflects the internal body conditions at the time the fat was stored. Each year, the illnesses that you caught left a small residue of the virus or bacteria in your fatty deposits. The toxins you ingested left their mark as well. Maybe it was that year in college when you drank too heavily because you were inexperienced ? or trace amounts of antibiotics and growth hormones that were embedded in the abundance of meat you ate during your high-protein diet phase. Deposits throughout your body have kept a sampling record of what you have been through.

Well, now picture that any cleansing you undergo is like stripping paint and wallpaper from the analogy above. As you cleanse and detoxify your body, you will be releasing the toxins, bacteria, and viruses that were built up in your fatty deposits. As they are released, you may experience symptoms that you experienced when you initially dealt with that particular malady or event ? albeit in a milder form. You may get a runny nose, you may feel tired, you may develop body aches or you may even develop a fever, as your body works its way through years of toxins and disease. In fact, as with the paint and wallpaper analogy, the symptoms you experience will likely be in the reverse order of when you first experienced them. Toxins that your body was exposed to in recent years will show their effect first, then will be followed by things that occurred earlier in your life.

This is called a healing crisis. During the healing process, you may experience some discomfort and you may feel like you are catching something. In extreme cases of toxicity, you may actually feel quite ill. However, rest assured that it is your body?s way of cleansing ? getting rid of these toxins once and for all. During your cleansing, if you feel sick, chances are it is from toxins, bacteria and viruses that are being released into your body from your fatty deposits.

You may experience a healing crisis when you are detoxifying your elimination organs, such as your liver. During a liver cleanse , your liver releases a large amount of toxins into your blood. Although your kidneys try and filter these toxins out and expel them through your urinary system, you may feel sick during the process. Generally, the symptoms surrounding this resemble a hangover ? headache, upset stomach, and listlessness. Additionally, your liver and gall bladder will release fatty deposits that will make their way into your colon. Some of these deposits may get reabsorbed during their journey through your colon, thus introducing toxins back into your body that may have been suspended for years by your liver. This may cause allergy or flu like symptoms, or cause acne, or even aches and pains as your body tries to eliminate these toxins. Drinking plenty of water helps your body flush out these toxins through your colon and kidneys.

You may also experience a healing crisis when you are undergoing a whole body detoxification, such as through fasting . Since fasting is one of the most effective forms of whole body detoxification, it is also the most likely to cause a healing crisis. Fasting can release toxins or diseased cells that were stored in your fat deposits from quite some time ago.

One of the biggest misconceptions people face with the healing crisis is the belief that they have caught some hideous infection or that a condition like acne that they thought they were long rid of has once again returned. However, with a healing crisis, these symptoms are a sign that your body is finally purging itself of the last remnants of the toxins or substances that created the disease or ailment in the first place.

The best way to get rid of these symptoms is to drink plenty of water and continue with the detoxification process. Avoid overeating during a healing crisis, eating only light meals that are easy to digest. Obviously if you were fasting, then you would just continue to fast.

Healing Crisis Article provides additional information on possible symptoms of a healing crisis and other ways to alleviate symptoms.

TNP - Six Steps to Good Health

Good health is much more than merely the absence of disease. People generally do not go from a healthy condition to a sick condition overnight ? although it may seem that way if we focus only on the symptoms of illness. Your body is extremely effective at achieving and maintaining good health, if it is given what it needs.

For some time, I have provided tools and guides to help visitors cleanse their bodies and naturally address specific ailments. However, upon reflection, it hasn?t been clear as to how to navigate through all of the information on this site. Do you do the Toxic Cleansing (cleansing your colon, kidneys, liver) first, or the Whole Body Cleansing? How do Natural Cures and Diet and Nutrition fit in?

To help you better use the guides and techniques that I have provided, I have created this simple master guide, which gives six easy steps to good health. The first step on your path to good health is to drink sufficient amounts of water - This sounds like a strange first item to put into a top level guide. Doesn?t everyone drink water? It turns out that most people do not drink enough water. Dehydration is subtle... so subtle that most people are unaware of how much water they need. By the time you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Statistically, more than 90% of us are dehydrated; we are not getting the amount of water our bodies need to operate at optimal capacity. Insufficient water consumption (dehydration) can make you feel tired, give you headaches, weaken your immune reactions or manifest itself in other seemingly unrelated symptoms. Water is the most important nutrient that our bodies need to function properly. It plays a critical role in the natural metabolic, digestive, and cellular regeneration processes. When our bodies become dehydrated, our organs suffer, which can result in various types of degenerative diseases. All major systems of the body depend on water. Drinking sufficient amounts of water should help many of your other health-related symptoms and will help to cleanse your body, in and of itself. Your next step towards achieving good health is to exercise regularly - Anyone, even someone not used to a regular exercise program, can instantly benefit from starting basic cardiovascular, aerobic exercise and strength training of one form or another. If you get little exercise, even walking 10 minutes a day can help immensely. In addition to helping to control your blood sugar and helping you lose weight, exercise also has a detoxifying effect on your body. While there are many forms of exercise, walking and trampoline exercise are the most easily accessible and beneficial. Next cleanse your elimination organs and eliminate parasites - The human body has been honed by millions of years of evolution to heal itself and fight disease ? its natural state of being is a condition of good health. However, the environment that our bodies are exposed to has changed dramatically in the last 50 years ? faster than the human body can adapt. Exposure to environmental factors such as processed foods, additives, pollution and toxins have left our bodies less able to cope with diseases. Resetting the body?s natural condition through a thorough body cleanse will help you achieve improved health, naturally. Start with a colon cleanse to cleanse your entire digestive tract. Why start with cleansing the colon to achieve good health? According to the Royal Academy of Physicians of Great Britain, 90% of all disease and discomfort is directly or indirectly related to an unclean colon. It is no wonder, given that your colon is the primary means for your body to eliminate waste. Additionally, poor digestion is one of the world?s major health problems. Your digestive system is a complex arrangement of organs and intestines, an assortment of acids, bacteria, and enzymes designed to nourish vital organs and body systems. Your food and drink must be broken down into small molecules of nutrients before they can be absorbed into the blood and carried to cells throughout the body. A clogged or poorly functioning digestive system prevents the absorption of nutrients your body needs, and inhibits the elimination of toxins which are damaging your liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and other vital organs. After your colon cleanse, make sure get enough fiber in your diet by eating high fiber food to keep your colon clean. Undertake a parasite cleanse - It is estimated that parasites infect up to 80% of the world population. Amazingly enough, these infestations are not limited to developing nations with poor sanitation. If you think you do not have parasites, you may be wrong. You can have a parasite infestation with few symptoms ? but the overall effect can cause other illnesses to take a bigger toll on your body, due to a weakened immune system. Parasites can rob you of your goal to achieve good health. Undergo a parasite cleanse every 6 months, as it is easy to get re-infected ? especially if you are around pets or other animals. Follow this up with a kidney cleanse ? Your kidneys act as filters that remove toxins and metabolic waste from your blood. Through years of abuse, your kidneys could become less effective, leading to conditions such as gout. Performing a Kidney Cleanse will help to get your kidneys back into shape. After your kidneys are clean, eat an apple a day, to help ensure that your kidneys remain in good condition. Finally, flush your gall bladder and liver with a liver cleanse ? your liver is a complex organ that is responsible for a great many functions. Flushing your liver of built up toxins and fatty deposits can help your liver function more effectively. You can find information on the liver?s many functions and a simple do-it-yourself guide to administering a Liver Cleanse. You may need to repeat your liver cleanse, but never more frequently than every 2 weeks. I rely on my body telling me when I need a liver cleanse. I do this when I see old symptoms, such as allergies re-appearing. The next step to achieving good health is to Properly Nourish Your Body - Unfortunately, today's diets are made up of more fats, more sugars, more carbohydrates and fewer nutritionally rich foods. Moreover, in our busy lives, we tend to eat foods filled with artificial ingredients that have adverse effects on our bodies. One of the most important things you can do to get the nourishment that your body needs is to eat 7 -9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. One simple and effective way to increase your servings of fruit and vegetables is through juicing. If you do not consume this many servings of fruit and vegetables, you are probably not getting the necessary essential vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and phytochemicals so critical to building and maintaining good health. If you are like me and find it difficult to eat so many servings of fruit and vegetables, you should consider taking mineral and vitamin supplements. A second important thing that you should do is learn to control your blood sugar by eating low glycemic foods. Spikes in your blood sugar causes a syndrome called insulin resistance. This problem can lead to diseases such as Type II Diabetes, heart attacks, high cholesterol, and Alzheimer?s disease. Controlling your blood sugar levels will help you live a healthier life. A third important factor in your diet should be to get sufficient fiber by eating high fiber food. Fiber not only helps to control blood sugar, but also helps to continuously cleanse your body of toxins and fatty deposits that lead to poor health. Finally, eating natural and organic food will help to provide a better environment for your body. This guide provides practical advice such as what additives and sweeteners are the best and worst for you, and which fruits and vegetables have the highest pesticide / chemical content and hence should be purchased from organic sources. Whole Body Cleanse ? In step 3 you cleansed your elimination organs and rid your body of parasites. However, toxins can be stored in the form of fat throughout your body. Healing crisis provides a good metaphor of how your body works in this regard. Whole Body Detox provides background information on ways to eliminate these toxins will help you continue your path to good health. Master Cleanse ? depriving your body of food over a short period of a few days allows your body to cleanse itself. Not burdened with the process of digestion, your body can focus on cleansing itself.

However, if you have the same concern as I have, I have found an amazing source of Phytonutrients from 24 fruits and vegetables, packaged in a convenient ?health-on-the-go? approach.

TNP - Food Additives

Many packaged, canned and prepared foods contain food additives, which help preserve the shelf life of the product. On average, a person consumes over 100 pounds of additives per year. Many, such as refined sugar, corn syrup, salt and MSG can have detrimental effects to your health. The most harmful are the ones chemically made by man. Your body has difficulty processing and eliminating them from your system. Therefore, some accumulate in your fatty tissues, leading to toxic reactions over time.

However, not all additives are toxic. Those made from wholesome, natural products are the least dangerous, but intake should still be kept to a minimum. Below are lists of commonly used food additives. The first list contains generally safe additives and the second contains those that should be avoided. Both lists contain names of typically found on food labels.

TNP - Coffee Enema

Because of its cleansing properties, coffee enemas have become one of the most popular enema solutions recommended by holistic healers. The reason they are so effective is that caffeine is an effective fat emulsifier and liver stimulator. These properties are only achieved when the coffee is administered in enema form because the caffeine is absorbed by the veins and is channeled directly to the liver. The caffeine stimulates the liver and gall bladder to open bile ducts and release toxins. It also breaks down the fat in the liver and encourages excretion of bile. Thus, it is a form of liver detoxification, as well as colon cleansing.

What precautions do I need to take?
Do not use if you have gallstones. If you become dizzy, nauseous or light-headed ? stop the enema.
Instructions for use:
Use only caffeinated coffee (not instant) Fill a pot with four cups distilled water and one-quarter cup of regular ground coffee. Heat until boiling. Filter out and discard the grounds. Let the resulting coffee cool to 102 degrees and administer, per enema directions. Hold in for at least 10-12 minutes, so that all of the caffeine will be absorbed. When the bile duct empties, you should hear or feel a squirting beneath the right rib cage. This is a sign that you have successfully released toxins from the liver.

Always follow the coffee enema with a pure water or therapeutic enema to cleanse your colon of the coffee and toxins purged from your liver.

The released bile contains valuable mineral salts that need to be replaced through generous consumption of organic vegetable juices, sea vegetables and sprouted seeds, or a green powder supplement. Consider adding 2 tablespoons of liquid chlorophyll or wheat grass juice to the second, cleansing enema solution to jump start the process of replenishing the lost minerals.

Cleansing your colon and liver with a coffee enema helps you get on

Juicing Guidelines

How to pick and prepare the produce for the juicing recipes:

-Buy organic wherever possible.

-Always wash your produce first, even if it is organic.

-If your produce is not organic, then peel it before juicing.

-You get the best juice from firm, ripe fruits and vegetables. If it is overripe or too soft, you will extract more pulp than juice.

Can I mix fruits and vegetables together?

Do your best to separate vegetable from fruit juices. Your body works differently to absorb nutrients from vegetable versus fruit sources. Carrots and apples are the only items that are interchangeable, and can be mixed with either fruit or vegetable juices. You will notice that many of the recipes provided below start with either carrots or apples.

- Fruits are revitalizers and body cleansers.

- Whole fruits are more easily digested than vegetables and are a good source of fiber.

- If you are monitoring your blood sugar intake, fruit juices do contain a high amount of fructose, so go easy on them.

- Vegetables are harder to digest when eaten whole. They are bulkier and are broken down more slowly by the body than fruit.

- Vegetables are responsible for strong healthy muscles, tissues, glands and organs. In juice form, you can consume nearly 100% of the available nutrients.

Are there other guidelines I should follow?

- Avoid juicing bananas or avocados as they are often too soft and will clog the juicer.

- Green vegetable juice ? Limit green juice to 2 oz per glass and fill the rest of the glass with a milder juice, such as carrot or apple. Otherwise you may experience temporary gastric discomfort.

- Beet juice ? Limit to 4 oz per glass and fill the rest with a milder juice, such as carrot or apple.

- Citrus ? with grapefruit, tangerines and oranges, remove and discard all of the rind, but keep as much of the white pith as possible since it is chock full of nutrients. You can juice lemons and limes whole with their rinds.

- Melons - Juice with both the peel and interior white rind, as much of the nutritional value of the melon resides in these sections of the fruit.

When you take your first sip of the freshly made juice, swish it around your mouth until it feels warm and tastes sweet. This activates the digestive enzymes that are naturally present in your saliva.

TNP - Organic Produce

Organic fruits, organic vegetables and grains ( organic produce ) are by far the healthiest for our bodies. These foods contain all of the protein, carbohydrates, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals our bodies need for good health. Therefore, your diet should consist primarily of organic fruits, vegetables and grain ? only supplemented by animal products such as organic meats and organic dairy products.

Why isn't all produce grown organically?
The majority of commercially available produce is not organic produce. It has been treated with pesticides, fungicides and chemical fertilizers. The reason is simple ? mass farming techniques consist of creating large fields of a single type of plant. With such a high concentration of plants, the soil becomes depleted of nutrients that the specific plant requires. Additionally, such a high concentration of single types of plants attracts pests from far and wide that like to feed on the specific plant. Organic produce growing techniques have not matured quickly enough to keep pace with this challenge. If all farms were to grow organic produce, the demand for organic pesticides and fertilizers would far outstrip the supply. Moreover, given the bulk and concentration of these organic products, our shipping infrastructure would be inadequate to move the necessary fertilizers and pest control products to their destinations. Therefore, in order to preserve the large fields, growers have relied more and more on chemicals to grow fruits, vegetables and grain. These toxic chemicals accumulate in the produce and we consume these chemicals with our food. As with other toxins, these chemical contaminants build up in our bodies and increase the load on our internal cleansing and detoxification organs.

A long-term solution to this is to vote with your wallet. By this I mean buy organic produce. If you do not have the luxury of living near a year-round organic farmer?s market, then many grocery stores are starting to stock organic produce. Look at the tiny sticker on the fruit or vegetable, and see if there is a 5-digit number starting with a ?9?. This indicates that the item is organic. A 4-digit number indicates that it is commercially grown. While it may cost more to do buy organic, remember you are what you eat. This will ensure that you are reducing the toxins that your body is exposed to, while also supporting the improvement in organic farming research necessary to solve some of the problems limiting the consumption of organic produce today. This will further encourage the use growing of organic fruits, organic vegetables and grains.

Organic Fruits and Organic Vegetables
You may have heard of something called a Raw Food Diet. Raw fruits and vegetables contain certain enzymes that are altered by heat. In addition, heat kills nutritional value. Therefore, the longer you cook something, the more nutritional value is lost. Eating a portion of the organic fruits and vegetables you consume in a raw form helps boost your nutritional intake and gives your body the enzymes it seeks from those foods. Of course, plant products such as grains and certain types of vegetables must be cooked in order to allow your digestive system to process them. However, most fresh organic vegetables and organic fruits are good sources of these necessary enzymes. So whenever possible, try and eat a portion of your organic fruit and organic vegetable intake in raw form. Juicing is a great way to increase your intake of organic fruits and organic vegetables in a raw form.

Organic fruits are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. Fruits are generally easier to digest than other types of foods. If fruits are eaten with other foods, they tend to become partially digested sooner than the other food and can putrefy in your digestive system. Therefore, organic fruit should generally be eaten separately from other foods, and on an empty stomach. In general, wait at least 2 hours after eating any other food, before eating organic fruit. However, you can eat other foods as little as half an hour after eating organic fruit.

Maximize Availability and Minimize Cost
toxic cleansing, colon cleanse, kidney cleanse, liver cleanse, parasite cleanse One of the major issues with organic produce is that it is sometimes hard to find. Moreover, when you do find it, it is substantially more expensive. So, make your money go farther. Here is a chart on the fruits and vegetables that are most and least contaminated. For the types of fruits and vegetables that tend to be most contaminated, make sure to consume organic produce. For those types that are less contaminated, it may be safer to compromise to increase availability and reduce cost.

Organic Beans, Nuts and Seeds
Beans, nuts and seeds are sometimes overlooked, when organic produce is discussed. However, beans, nuts and seeds are excellent sources of fiber, protein and essential fatty acids.

Examples of Beans, Nuts and Seeds to Eat*
Garbanzo beans / Chick peas
Pinto beans
Black beans
Pinto beans
White beans / Cannelini beans
Navy beans
Almond
Sesame
Pumpkin seed
Sunflower seed
Filbert / Hazelnut
Chestnut
Walnut
Black walnut
Brazil nut
Cashews
Pecans
Peanuts
Pistachios
Macadamia nuts
Coconut
Pine nut
*Remember to eat organic vegetables whenever possible

Getting Enough Fiber
A new focus has been placed on fiber intake in our diets. Fiber acts like our internal scrub brush. It binds to various toxins and fats our bodies do not need and helps our bodies eliminate them. Organic grains are an excellent source of fiber. A breakfast consisting of a variety of organic grains will give you the fiber you need to help cleanse your body and keep your colon healthy. Additionally, certain grains, such as oats, have been proven to reduce cholesterol. Information on fiber will help you better understand the types of fiber, its benefits, and the fiber content of certain popular foods.

Examples of Grains with Plenty of Fiber*
Whole wheat
Oats (groats, steel cut oats or rolled oats)
Brown rice
Corn
Barley
Millet
Amaranth (high in protein)
Buckwheat / kasha
Rye
Quinoa
*Remember to eat organic vegetables whenever possible

Produce to Avoid
Non-organic produce
Dried or dehydrated fruit that has been bleached or sulfured.
Canned fruits and vegetables
Packaged fruits and vegetables that contain artificial additives
White flour
Polished white rice

TNP - Liver Cleanse

A good liver cleanse can rejuvenate an unhealthy liver. The liver performs hundreds of functions necessary for us to maintain good health. Due to the breadth of functions the liver performs, an unhealthy liver can affect every single organ in your body. Symptoms of an unhealthy liver include allergies, high cholesterol, malnutrition, and in extreme cases hepatitis and gallstones. Liver cleansing can relieve many of these ailments.

Why is the liver so important?
The liver is our body?s primary detoxification organ and manufacturing plant. It cleans drugs, alcohol, poisons, bacterial products, various waste products and worn out red blood cells from the body. The liver is also the main factory for amino acids, proteins and fats, and the stores fat and glucose ? the energy source for all bodily functions.

The liver plays a major role in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins ? the nutrients that supply the body with energy. It converts carbohydrates into glucose, removes excess glucose from the blood and makes and stores glycogen ? a source of energy between meals. Cleansing your liver can help your body better control its blood sugar levels.

The liver is also very important in metabolizing proteins. The liver manufactures amino acids and removes from circulation excess amino acids. It has the ability to dismantle amino acids that are found to be in excess and convert them to other amino acids that may be in short supply. It removes ammonia ? a toxic byproduct of protein we consume ? and converts it to urea to be eliminated by the kidneys. Liver cleansing can help provide your cells with protein in the form of essential amino acids.

The liver also controls the metabolism of fats we eat. It manufactures bile ? necessary component for us to digest fat ? and stores it in the gall bladder. The liver builds and breaks down fats as needed by the body. A liver cleanse can help you better regulate your body fat. I lost 5 pounds and about 2 inches off my waist by simply undergoing this liver cleansing program.

As you can see, a healthy liver is key to achieving a healthy life. Liver cleansing or liver detoxification can help you achieve a healthy liver and may also relieve you of various maladies that are really symptoms of liver health.

Liver Cleansing Guide
There are many herbs and tonics that will cleanse your liver. You may purchase liver cleansing kits at your local health food store or online. However, I found that the following formula worked well. In order to undertake this liver cleanse, you will have to plan to fast from one afternoon through the next morning. You will also have to be near a bathroom and be able to drink plenty of water.

WARNING: If you are undertaking this liver cleanse, make sure that you have done the colon cleanse and kidney cleanse FIRST. This cleanse will flush a large quantity of toxins into your blood. Your kidneys must be working effectively in order to filter these toxins out of your blood and eliminate them through your urinary system. Additionally, your colon will play a part in eliminating these toxins as well. So undergo the colon cleanse first, then the kidney cleanse, prior to starting this or any other liver cleanse.

Also, I do not recommend ladies undertake the liver cleanse during their menstruation period. During this time, your body is already attempting to eliminate fluids from your body. The liver cleanse will only add to its elimination load.

Complete Liver Cleanse
You will need the following ingredients. To help you, I have found a single online store that has most of the necessary ingredients - so you can save on shipping charges. I am a fan of this store because they offer good customer service and wholesale pricing. Each item is linked to the specific item in their shopping cart, to make it easier for you to shop. Just go back and forth between this page and their shopping cart, until you have everything you need. Then simply checkout on their page.

You will need to allocate an afternoon and the following morning to the liver cleanse. Follow these directions to cleanse your liver:
1. On the first day of the liver cleanse, avoid any fatty foods ? try and eat as little fat as possible.
2. Stop eating after 2PM on the afternoon of the liver cleanse.
3. At 6PM of that day, drink 3/4 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt.
4. At 8PM of that day, drink 3/4 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt.
5. At 10PM of that day, drink a mixture of 1/2 cup of olive oil and the juice from one grapefruit (approx. 3/4 cup of juice). Take four L-ornithine capsules and go immediately to bed. If you already experience insomnia, you can take up to 8 capsules. Lie flat on your back for 20 minutes and then go to sleep.
6. After 6AM the next morning, drink 3/4 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt.
7. Two hours later, drink 3/4 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt.
8. You may eat a light breakfast after 10AM of that day. Eat light meals without too much meat and fried foods for the rest of the day.

CAUTION: Your liver is most active between 11PM and 1AM, so it is important that you take the olive oil-grapefruit mixture promptly at 10PM to stimulate your liver and to allow you sufficient time to fall asleep. If you forget the L-ornithine, you will have a long sleepless night. Keep in mind that the water and Epsom salt mixture will cause you to eliminate everything in your digestive system. You may experience diarrhea like symptoms. This is to be expected. Drink plenty of water to replenish the water that you are expelling and to ensure that you are properly flushing toxins released by your liver, out of your body.

In the morning, you will find that your waste on your second trip to the bathroom will contain greenish fatty looking particles that can be as small as peas and as large as golf balls. These are cholesterol, and deposits that would one day have turned into gallstones. Aren?t you glad you eliminated these from your body?

Start taking the milk thistle capsules as soon as you have completed the liver cleanse. Begin with the smallest dosage (approx. 200 mg), but within a week, increase to the maximum dosage (400 - 600mg). Continue taking the maximum dosage until the bottle is empty.

I would also recommend that you do a pure water enema after your liver cleanse. It will ensure that all toxins and fatty debris are flushed out of your colon. If these toxins are not thoroughly flushed out, then they will be reabsorbed over time into your body through the colon wall and compromise your entire liver cleansing effort.

You may find that a few weeks after your first liver cleanse, your symptoms slowly start to reappear. Toxins that were farther upstream may have been pushed into the liver during the first liver cleansing. So you may find the need to do a second cleanse about 3-4 weeks after the first one.

Quick Liver Cleanse
If you do not have the time for the fasting and intestinal tract purge required by the complete liver cleanse, you can follow this quick liver cleanse program.

Take an herbal laxative right after your evening meal. I recommend 2-3 pills of Cascara Sagrada, but you may use any other natural laxative - such as an herbal laxative tea. Do not use a pharmaceutical laxative.

Promptly at 10PM, mix and drink: Fresh juice from ? fresh lemon Fresh juice from 2 grapefruits (8 oz of raw, un-pasteurized apple juice may be substituted) 2 tablespoons olive oil Go straight to bed.

Remember to drink plenty of water before and after your quick liver cleansing. Consider a pure water enema to cleanse your colon of the bile and toxins released during the quick liver cleanse.

The quick liver cleansing is not a substitute for the complete liver cleansing described earlier, but is intended more as a maintenance liver cleansing program. Some people choose to undergo a complete liver cleansing once per year and a quick liver cleansing every 2-3 months.

Liver Cleanse with a Coffee Enema
You have heard all of the reports that say that caffeine is not good for you because it is a stimulant. The reality is that when caffeine is absorbed through the intestinal walls, it directly stimulates the liver to release bile. A coffee enema is one of the most powerful liver cleanse that you can do. If you are not familiar with administering an enema, please follow these enema instructions.

TNP - Low Glycemic Food

Low glycemic food consists of carbohydrates that cause a relatively slow rise in your blood sugar level, and thereby limit the amount of excess insulin in your blood. The glycemic index of a type of carbohydrate is a measure of how quickly that carbohydrate is digested and introduced into your blood stream, thereby causing a rise in your blood sugar.

The pancreas secretes insulin in an effort to decrease blood sugar levels, particularly after eating. Insulin helps transport glucose into muscle cells to be used for energy or into fat cells to be stored as fat. Sharp spikes in blood sugar, caused by high glycemic carbohydrates, will cause a dramatic increase in insulin. Since the spike in blood sugar is metabolized more quickly than insulin in the blood, excess insulin remains after the blood sugar spike subsides. Eating low glycemic food causes gradual increases blood sugar, thus preventing creation of excess insulin. Excess insulin: Increases LDL cholesterol and lowers HDL cholesterol - Excess insulin causes your cells to produce LDL cholesterol, rather than consume cholesterol present in the blood stream, thus elevating LDL cholesterol. Tests show that HDL cholesterol levels of patients with excess insulin levels are reduced. Increases blood pressure - High insulin levels cause the kidneys to produce angiotension, which increases blood pressure. Leads to breast cancer - High insulin levels lead to higher ?free-estrogen? levels in the body, which has been linked to accelerating breast cancer in women. Leads to diabetes ? Excess insulin is associated with a condition called ?insulin resistance?, which leads to the onset of diabetes. While it is debatable whether insulin resistance causes excess insulin or vice versa, the conditions are definitely closely linked. Linked to Alzheimer?s disease ? According to a study published in August 2005, moderately elevated levels of insulin increase the levels of inflammatory markers that may contribute to Alzheimer's disease. The following strategies can be used effectively to balance insulin levels and minimize excess insulin. Rather than eating three large meals daily, eat smaller, more frequent meals, mixing in sufficient protein and low glycemic food. Avoid sugars and sweeteners to the extent possible and use healthy natural sweeteners where you must. Avoid soft drinks and alcohol. Be aware of glycemic index and choose low glycemic food. Adopt a primarily vegetarian diet high in natural produce and fiber. Avoid or limit meat and dairy based saturated fat. These increase insulin resistance. Maintain an ideal weight for your body height and type. Exercise for at least 20 ? 30 minutes per day to lower insulin and blood glucose levels. You can see why eating low glycemic food is important for more than just weight control. Glycemic Index Table provides the glycemic index of popular food. Remember to limit yourself to low and medium glycemic index foods. Controlling blood sugar by eating low glycemic food is

TNP - Benefit of Drinking Water

The obvious benefit of drinking water is that it replenishes an ingredient that is essential to our body. Almost 60% of your body is comprised of water, so how can it not be important? In the course of a day, our body depletes itself of water through urine, sweat, and normal cellular activity. Lack of adequate water slows down our metabolism and interferes with healing, toxin removal, removal of old cells and replacement with new tissue. Therefore, drinking plenty of water is an important part of both daily life and toxic cleansing.

How much water should I drink?
The answer to this question initially surprised me. At a minimum, to prevent dehydration, you should drink (in ounces) the number of pounds of your body weight divided by two. To calculate the number of 8 ounce glasses you should drink per day, divide your body weight in pounds by 16 and round up. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you should be drinking 10 glasses of water, each 8 ounces.

If you are dehydrated, you should see an immediate benefit of drinking water. First, your bowel movements should become more regular. Next, if you are prone to breakouts, these should clear up. Notice how your skin is less dry? And these are only a few of the visible benefits of drinking water.
How much water should I drink while following a cleansing regime?
Remember, the calculation above is the minimum amount of water you need to prevent dehydration ? not to cleanse your body of toxins. When you are on a cleansing program, you should be drinking at least twice that amount. For example, if you cleanse your liver using the liver cleanse program on this site or are following the fasting program, your liver will be flushing its stored toxins into your bloodstream. Your urinary system is one of the key methods of eliminating these toxins. Lack of water will make you feel sick ? sort of like you felt when you had a hangover. Therefore, regardless of which cleansing program you are on, you should be drinking twice the amount of water recommended in the paragraph above. So if you weigh 160 pounds, then you should be drinking 20 glasses of water. You may find this difficult. In fact, you may find that you will have to urinate quite frequently when you first start drinking water at this rate. However, as your body gets used to it, the capacity of your bladder will increase and you will soon start to think of drinking this much water as natural.

Does coffee and sodas count toward by daily goal?
The above guideline is for how much water to drink ? not soda, not coffee. They are not the same thing. Since soda or coffee have toxins and contaminants already mixed into them, their ability to cleanse your body is substantially diminished. Moreover, many sodas and coffee are diuretic. This means that they make you urinate more frequently ? thus negating the benefit of drinking water.

As fat deposits are broken down, toxins are released and eliminated. This process can be accelerated by consuming either specific juices or fasting solutions that help promote cleansing and healing. Fasting and the Juice Fast provides you with additional background information and details on how to administer a pure fast, a monofoods fast and a juice fast. Undergo a fast at least once per year, to stay on the path to good health. Hyperthermia ? elevating your body temperature helps increase your metabolism and accelerates your body?s natural internal cleansing processes. Hyperthermia gives you guidelines on using heat to help you achieve good health. Use them to administer these techniques as often as you can. Oxygen Therapy ? oxygen is a powerful cleansing process. Learn about using oxygen to help cleanse your body of toxins. Target Your Specific Ailments with Natural Cures - Now that you have gotten your body onto a solid foundation of good health, you should be feeling better. Do you notice that some of the nagging symptoms that you previously had have disappeared? If you still find that you are plagued with specific ailments, you can find natural cures to common ailments. This section will continue to grow over time to cover additional ailments.

For serious conditions, my best advice is to seek appropriate professional medical attention. If you are interested in pursuing only natural cures, I suggest you consult a Naturopathic Doctor (ND). An ND has undergone similar education to an MD, but has focused on natural cures and therapies. You can find practitioners near you at Naturopathic Doctors in the U.S. and Naturopathic Doctors in Canada. If you live elsewhere, check with local licensing boards to find resources that can help you find an ND near you.
